- Cosmopolitan Club
- The Cosmopolitan Club offers International Dinners, International Coffee Hours and Special Events and Activities for U of I students and IEI students. If you would like to look at their calendar for these events, go to their calendar page.

- The University of Illinois's event calendar. Click on the day to find out what is happening then.

- The webpage has links to lots of things to do in the community as well as community resources such as links to maps, to weather information and much more.

- If you are looking for a place to eat, this website has listings by category of lots restaurants in Champaign and Urbana.

- Commentary, reviews and upcoming events around campus.
- Other things to do
- List of where you can do different types of recreational activities like play pool or bowl. At the bottom of the page is a list of public golf courses.
- Local Movies
- This site can list the movies playing in the C-U area. Type our zip code (61801) in the box on the left that says "Movie Showtimes & Tickets". Then, click on the theater to see what movies are playing there.
- IMPE
- Students can do a wide variety of sports in this huge sports facility located next to Memorial Stadium.
- Sports Events
- Composite calendar of sports events. The University of Illinois has many sports teams. With your student ID you can get discounted tickets to see the football team in the fall or the basketball team in the winter as well as many other team events.
- Student Organizations
- One great way to practice your English and get involved on campus is to join a student organization. This website has a list of all student organizations by category.
- Krannert Center for the Performing Arts
- Krannert has many types of performances from theatrical plays to classical or jazz concerts. While many are performed by U of I students and faculty, well-known groups from around the world also perform at the Krannert. IEI students get discounts on tickets for all Krannert performances with their student ID.
- Foellenger Auditorium
- Foellenger Auditorium offers a variety of interesting speakers and different kinds of musical performances, as well as occasional movies.
- Assembly Hall
- Find out what is coming to the Assembly Hall. Big name Broadway productions such as Cabaret can be seen here as well as concerts from well-known stars such as Ja-Rule, Destiny's Child, Eminem, Janet Jackson, Bruce Springsteen and many more. This is also where the University of Illinois basketball team plays. Not all events have student discounts.
- Champaign Public Library and Urbana Free Library
- IEI students can join the public library in the city where they live for free. All that is required is a picture ID and proof of residence in that city. Library members can check out books, DVDs, Videos, CDs, books on tape and use the library's resources.

- Want to travel somewhere by car but not sure how to get there or how long it will take? By using Mapquest's Driving Directions you can get specific directions on how to get from your house to the place you are going and how long it will take you.

Using Computers on Campus
- Campus Computer Labs:
- In all computer centers on campus, you will need to sign in using your net ID and one of your passwords. Here is some information about what centers are available to you.
- G8 in FLB: Computers in this center have many types of fonts which makes it possible to read text from most world languages. This is where many IEI students go to read their email from home. All computers have Microsoft Office 2000 or 98 (Mac) and well as Internet Explorer and Netscape. To sign in on the computers in this lab you use your net ID, your Kerberos password and the UIUC.EDU (Kerberos Domain) option for "log on to."
- ICS Computer Centers: 8 ICS computer centers are on the main campus. These sites offer a wide variety of software such as Photoshop, MIcrosoft Office, Access, Pagemaker and many more. See their locations and hours of operation. To sign in on in these computers labs you use your net ID and ICS password.
- Walk-up Computing
- If you would like to connect your laptop to the internet while you are on campus, you can do this at several locations on campus. Here is a map of walk-up locations. Click on the building for more information. When using walk-up computing you will use your net ID and kerberos password.
- Wireless Computing
- If you have a wireless card in your laptop, you can connect the University of Illinois wireless network from several locations. Before you do, you will need to install a program called VPN on your laptop. For complete instructions and information, go to this website. When connecting to the wireless network, you will use your net ID and kerberos password.
Campus Services and Resources
- Writer's Workshop
- This service provides tutoring for students who need help with their academic writing. It is located in the Undergrad Library on the top floor. In order to use this service you need to go there and make an appointment.
- Unversity of Illinois Library
- You can take advantage of one of the largest public libraries in the country by using your student ID card. You can also learn more about the library's tutorials and workshops. See locations and hours.
- CITES Help Desk
- This is the University of Illinois's technology support help page. If you don't find a solution here, please come to see Kristin in the IEI Building, Room 208.
- McKinley Health Center
- This is the webpage for the University's Student Health Center. You can get information on health problems as well as on the Health Center's hours etc.
- The Student Insurance Office
- This website has information on student insurance. It has downloadable forms as well as information about the different kinds of plans and frequently asked questions.
- The Counseling Center
- The Counseling Center is a place where students can get help if they are having trouble adjusting to the United States and campus life. This page is designed especially for international students and the concerns that they might have.
- University of Illinois Tenant Union:
- Before you sign an apartment contract, you can have it reviewed by the Tenant Union. You can also check to see if a landlord has had complaints from the people who rent from him/her.
- CU MTD
- Champaign-Urbana's public bus service. For specific information on routes, check their route maps or schedule pages.
